Beijing to build 60 parks

The Beijing municipal government has revealed its plans to build 60 ecological parks in the city.

The parks located near the Fourth Ring Road and the Fifth Ring Road will be opened before May 2008. Over the next three years, more parks will also be built in the city's suburbs.

Hundreds of plants will be planted in the parks in order to attract visitors and wild animals. The aim of the project is to create places that promote people's well-being.

According to Lan Bin, an official from Beijing municipal government, trees and grasses should occupy 90 percent of the area in the parks.
